The Jolly Roger In Sefton Park
In 1972, to coincide with Sefton Park's bi centenary, a pirate ship was placed in the upper Jordan watercourse. The ship was known as the Jolly Roger and lasted until the early 90s.
This film was taken in 1974, just two years after the ship was lowered by crane into the watercourse. We can see the Jolly Roger in pristine condition complete with it's pirates' looking out of the windows.
George Harrison Pirate Song George Harrison singing Pirate Song on Rutland Weekend Television It's been over 6 years since I uploaded a clip of George Harrison singing his Pirate Song to my You Tube channel. I edited it from an episode of 'Rutland Weekend Television' that was first shown on BBC 2 in 1975. The clip has had almost 2 million views with many likes and comments. It has caused quite a stir with many people not being aware of it's existence until they viewed it on my YouTube channel. Artificial Intelligence Some have even suggested the clip is AI generated as they can't believe George did such a thing. It does reveal George's sense of humour and was a good sport. I actually remember watching the episode way back in 1975, so it's definitely real! Rutland Weekend Television The context to the clip is that it was part of an episode of Rutland Weekend Television, which was a spoof Monty Python type of show that wasn't really mainstream back in th...

It stands for Phase Alternating Line and is a technical term indicating the colour system that is used which applies to analogue Television signals. Back in the 1950s when black and white TV was king, RCA of America developed a colour Cathode Ray Tube which meant colour TV was on it's way! Colour TVs would be very expensive to begin with and so millions would still be watching black and white for a while until mass production brought prices down. So how do you send the colour signal to the privileged few who could afford colour without effecting those who had black and white? Luminance and Chroma The black and white TV signal is also called the Luminance signal and is used to drive the CRT in varying intensity depending on the picture. You would need to keep this signal so that those with black and whit...
